Primary ClassroomS

PRIMARY DEVELOPMENT CLASSROOM

 

Designed for students who require a highly structured environment with individualized support, this classroom focuses on foundational academic skills, social development, classroom readiness, and daily routines. The class size is capped at seven students, ensuring personalized attention and tailored interventions. New Heights Academy will develop foundational skills through engaging, hands-on learning experiences tailored to their individual needs. Our curriculum focuses on essential early childhood skills, including:

  • Letter Recognition & Phonics – Identifying letters and their sounds
  • Number Sense & Counting – Understanding numbers, counting, and basic math concepts
  • Fine & Gross Motor Skills – Strengthening hand-eye coordination and movement
  • Social & Emotional Development – Learning to share, take turns, and express emotions appropriately
  • Language & Communication – Expanding vocabulary, following directions, and engaging in conversations
  • Pre-Writing Skills – Developing pencil grip, tracing, and early writing techniques
  • Basic Daily Living Skills – Practicing routines like handwashing, dressing, and meal etiquette

Through individualized instruction and interactive learning, students build the foundational skills necessary for future academic success.    

School Hours:  9:00 AM - 3:00 PM


PRIMARY PROGRESS CLASSROOM

 

This classroom provides a balanced approach to learning, incorporating structured academics with social and independent skills development. Students engage in small-group instruction and hands-on activities to strengthen their academic foundation. Enrollment is limited to seven students for optimal support. New Heights Academy will build upon their foundational skills and develop essential competencies through structured, engaging, and individualized instruction. Our curriculum focuses on key academic and executive functional skills, including:

  • Reading & Phonics – Recognizing sight words, decoding words, and developing reading fluency
  • Writing & Sentence Formation – Constructing simple sentences, using proper capitalization and punctuation
  • Mathematical Concepts – Understanding addition, subtraction, number patterns, and place value
  • Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking – Applying reasoning skills to real-world scenarios
  • Social & Emotional Growth – Enhancing communication, cooperation, and self-regulation skills
  • Science & Exploration – Observing, questioning, and experimenting with basic scientific concepts
  • Daily Living & Independence – Strengthening routines such as organizing materials, following multi-step directions, and completing tasks independently

With a focus on individualized support, interactive learning, and hands-on activities, students will gain the foundational knowledge and confidence needed for continued academic success.

PRIMARY INSTRUCTIONAL CLASSROOM

 

Ideal for students demonstrating readiness for more advanced academic challenges, this classroom emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent learning. Lessons are structured to encourage higher-level comprehension while maintaining individualized support. The class size is capped at seven students to foster an engaging and productive learning environment. New Heights Academy Advance Classroom curriculum focuses on building strong academic skills while fostering independence and critical thinking. Through interactive lessons, hands-on activities, and technology-based learning, students will develop key skills in the following areas:

  • Reading & Writing: Strengthening reading comprehension, expanding vocabulary, understanding story elements, and writing complete paragraphs with correct grammar and punctuation.
  • Math: Mastering addition and subtraction, learning multiplication and division, understanding fractions, and solving word problems.
  • Science: Exploring topics such as ecosystems, the water cycle, simple machines, and conducting hands-on experiments.
  • Social Studies: Learning about communities, government, important historical events, and geography.
  • Social & Emotional Skills: Developing teamwork, problem-solving, and emotional regulation strategies.
  • Daily Life & Independence: Strengthening responsibility, following multi-step directions, and completing tasks independently.

Using Unique Learning System (ULS) and other academic tools, we provide engaging, structured instruction that supports student growth and success in all subject areas.

ART/MUSIC/PHYSICAL

NHA Visual Arts Program develops self-confidence, brings out creativity, and promotes higher-level thinking in all of our students.  


The goal of Music Education at NHA is to learn music through experiencing music. Students learn critical musical concepts while singing, dancing, and playing. The program is designed to be stimulating, challenging, engaging and rewarding. 

  

Regular, Healthful Physical Activity: Provides a wide-range of developmentally appropriate activities for all children. At NHA we keep moving with our indoor sensory room, Physical Education and Yoga classes during school hours.
